For the third consecutive year, Duke Realty has been recognized by 2020 Women on Boards as a Winning “W” Company. A national campaign to increase the percentage of women in corporate leadership, 2020 Women on Boards awards this distinction each year to companies whose boards are at least 20% female. Duke Realty’s three female board members—Lynn Thurber, Ngaire Cuneo, and Melanie Sabelhaus—make up 23% of Duke Realty’s Board of Directors.
The 2020 Gender Diversity Index, tied to the 2010 list of Fortune 1000 companies, tracks the annual progress being made nationwide. Once again, there were encouraging developments in this year’s index, including the largest percentage increase to date in Winning “W” Companies and increases in the percentage of women on boards across all sectors. The real estate sector, along with utilities and consumer defensives (staple goods such as food, tobacco, and beverages considered unaffected by cyclical consumer demand) showed the largest gains for the year.
2020 Women on Boards seeks to increase the number of women on the boards of all U.S. companies to 20% or greater by the year 2020. Diversity of leadership not only drives diversity of thought, it also leads to better stakeholder representation, ensures availability of essential skills, and increases competitive advantage. Duke Realty is pleased to be doing our part toward these important goals.
