As part of our Annual Day of Service, associates from our Indianapolis office—along with associates from 15 other Duke Realty offices nationwide—worked with the American Red Cross on their “Sound the Alarm, Save a Life” campaign. Our volunteers helped install free smoke alarms, replaced batteries in existing alarms, and assisted families in creating fire escape plans to bring awareness to fire safety and help promote this life-saving initiative.

It all happened on May 4, 2018, when three-person teams canvassed local neighborhoods to help install smoke alarms, which supported the American Red Cross in achieving its local goal of installing 1,000 free smoke alarms in homes around Indianapolis. Duke Realty associates also assisted with preparing canvassing materials and packed bags for installation teams. The nationwide objective of the “Sound the Alarm, Save a Life” campaign is to install at least 100,000 smoke alarms across the country—and together with 30,000 volunteers in 120 U.S. cities, we’re proud to say we did our part in achieving that important goal.
